During an afternoon discussion in Rumble Labs’ Design Department a few weeks ago, my colleagues and I planned a road trip for the weekend, with the goal of bettering our camera skills. In particular, we were interested in videography and wanted an excuse to get out of the office and practice filming. Early afternoon on the Saturday, we set off, seeking the waterfall in Glenoe.
Once on location, we clambered down the leaf-covered steps to the waterfall. The first thing I noticed was how Autumn transformed the landscape, filling it with vibrant colours.
Our adventure provided a great chance to experiment and learn more about photography, landscape photography in particular for me, since I’m not very well practiced in this area. Taking Steven’s advice, I waded knee-deep through the river to set up the tripod and compose my next shots of the waterfall.
Whilst down by the water, I glanced upwards to see a white horse and its rider at the river's edge. After meeting the rider and her friend, we got them involved in our shots. I got up-close and personal, taking photos of "Nimbus" the horse, while Steven composed his video shots as the elegant animal walked by the camera.
After our walk around Glenoe Waterfall we ventured to our next point of interest, Knockagh Monument, a war memorial in Country Antrim. Located on the top of Knockagh Hill, we overlooked a panoramic view of Belfast. As always, I made sure to photograph any animals at the scene. In this case, it was two lovely German Wire-haired Pointers.
The daylight quickly faded so after a refreshing day out, we headed home to edit our photos and video clips. My fellow Rumblers, Steven and Will, are also on Twitter and Instagram - @shylands and @willmcneilly.
